From a 1969 Dodge Charger to Mound House’s Trusted Repair Shop

At Sierra Nevada Hybrid/GTM Auto Repair, our story begins with a passion for cars, and it all started with a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T. For owner Gene Tarantino, auto repair has never been just a job—it’s been a lifelong calling. From building his first car in high school to years spent as a dealership technician, Gene’s love for vehicles evolved into a full-fledged career and, eventually, a business that has become a trusted name in Mound House, NV, and surrounding areas, including Carson City, NV, Dayton, NV, Reno, NV, Gardnerville, NV, and Lake Tahoe. Gene enjoys building, tuning, and maintaining the Classic Firebirds he and his wife own in his spare time.


In 2006, Gene stepped away from the Chevy dealership and launched his own mobile mechanic service. That leap of faith paid off—what started as a one-man operation quickly grew into a full-service, brick-and-mortar repair shop. As automotive technology advanced, Gene saw the rise of hybrids and electric vehicles and took the initiative to get trained in hybrid systems. Today, Sierra Nevada Hybrid / GTM Auto Repair is one of the few shops in the area that truly specializes in gas, hybrid, and electric vehicle repair (and we’re proud of that).
